Phil RantaPhil Ranta began studying comedy when he was five years old, misunderstanding sexual innuendos on "Cheers," but appreciating the show for its catchy theme song and relating to Woody on a deep level. In 2004, he began doing stand up, improv, and sketch comedy in Michigan before moving to LA to pursue comedy as a career in 2005. He has studied comedy at and performed at the Upright Citizen's Brigade LA, Second City Training Center, iO West, Westside Eclectic, and the Improv Inferno. He is currently a member of the improv group McShane, winner of the 2009 LA Improv Fest Harold Competition, Bro Squad 5, and Take That, Germany!, as well as writing for the weekly sketch comedy show at the iO West "Top Story! Weekly," which won the 2009 Del Close Award for "Best Scripted Show." And he still doesn't understand the sexual innuendos on "Cheers."
